December

December is a weird month. This particular one has been even weirder than normal, busier than normal. All parts of my life have been turned upside-down and inside-out in the last couple of weeks. Most things have fallen back into place. Some are left to be fully unpacked in the new year.

It’s increasingly strange to me how tied we as humans are to the concept of years. One ends, a new one starts. Before you know it we’re onto the next. December 31st and January 1st are directly connected, yet feel like two completely different worlds.

And even if you’re actively aware of that strange mental modal we have of years, you still can’t help but think in that same way. “We’ll take care of it next year,” I’ll hear myself say on December 16th. I can barely prevent myself from making the lame “see you next year” joke on December 28th.

Anyways, happy new year!
